NFL 2024 Post-season Thoughts: March 31, 2025
Buffalo continued to roll over their opponents and dominate the AFC East, all while setting the stage for Josh Allen's first MVP award. They smashed their opponents with ease throughout the year only dropping games to divisional playoff teams (Must See TV: Bills @ Rams Week 14). Ultimately the campaign ends when the heroes lose to the big bad Kansas City Chiefs waiting for them in the AFC CHampionship. The goal for 2025 is the Superbowl. Can this Buffalo team end the drought?
Midseason Prediction: 12-5, 1st Place in AFC East

A Dolphin's tail as old as time. Tua got hurt and it derailed the beginning of the season, creating a W/L deficit that is difficult to come back from in the highly competitive AFC. Once Tua came back from injury, Miami rattled off a nice series of wins until ultimately finishing just under .500. The fast and fragile offense concept was fun, but Miami lacks in a number of areas to be considered contenders with the rest of the conference. There may be some hot chairs in Miami this year if the team fails to meet expectations.
Midseason Prediction: 9-8, 2nd Place in AFC East

After everything New England has done to the NFL, its good to see a performance like the Week 18 Patriots. Joe Milton's great performance ultimately cost New England the #1 overal draft pick. An inspiring season for the rookie Maye sprouted lot of hope for the New England fanbase. We will have to see if this rebuilding Patriots will be a force in the league, or if they need some more time in the oven.
Midseason Prediction: 4-13 4th in AFC East

Death, taxes, and the New York Jets. Head coach gets fired after a week 5 loss. The General Manager gets fired after a week 11 loss. Rumors cascade through the news that the New York Jets owner's teenage son is handing out game balls and making football decsions based on Madden player ratings. The dicussion with this team tends to be away from the football field and it manifests itself into the onfield product. The Aaron Rodgers expirament was a resounding failure. Will the Jets do a funny next season?
Midseason Prediction: 6-11, 3rd Place in AFC East

Lamar Jackson put up another MVP worthy season and did it in a spectacular fashion. Baltimore brought on Derrick Henry to great success and showed that Lamar can bring an air raid offense as well. Ultimately the season came to a close against Buffalo in the Divisional round of the playoffs, but there are a lot of young players on the Ravens who will likely take the next step to being great during the 2025 season. The defensive unit needs to solidify and the offense will keep finding ways to maximize Lamar Jackson.
Midseason Prediction: 13-4 1st in AFC North

Cincinnati opening up the season 1-4 really hurt their opprotunity to make the playoffs this year. The Bengals went into their week 12 BYE with a 4-7 record while playing in high score matchups week in and week out. The Joe Burrow high power offense won a few more games in spite of everyone not named Trey Hendrickson on the defense. The lackluster defensive unit ended up costing the Bengals a spot in the playoffs. We know the offense is championship caliber but the defense needs a serious uplift for the team to contend with the leaders of the NFL in 2025.
Midseason Prediction: 9-8 3rd in AFC North

Cleveland's factory of sadness closed it's doors at the end of the regular season. The highlights were a win against the dominating Ravens and a thrilling snow game led by Jameis Winston against the Steelers. The end of the fully guarenteed quarterback expirament seems to be close to an end. Offseason champs to 2nd overall pick. “I’m just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes.”
Midseason Prediction: 4-13 4th in AFC North

Dread it. Run from it. 10-7 arrives all the same. The aquisistion of Justin Fields and Russell Wilson showed that the Steelers have a proven system that works. Plug and play any quarterback with Coach T and you will have a winning season with a first round playoff exit. The Steelers were hummin along throughout the season keeping an eye on the back-half of the schedule. The wheels fell off and the train ground to a halt. Fans were clammoring for a better view of Justin Fields during the 5 game losing streak with Russ, but once Baltimore runs for 299 yards in the Wildcard Round of the playoffs, you know changes need to be made. Maybe I will learn that exceeding the 10-7 expectations is nigh impossible.
Midseason Prediction: 12-5 2nd in AFC North

Houston performed fairly well considering the circumstances. CJ Stroud was getting hammered by defenses with the 2nd most sacks taken, all while the Texans' WR corps were being decimated. Houston's defence held their own and proved to be one of the stingier unit in the league with several young stars. They won the AFC South and knocked out the Chargers in playoffs before succumbing to the Chiefs in the Divisional round. Get CJ Stroud a better line and a healthy group of recievers and they are strong contenders for the Superbowl.
Midseason Prediction: 11-6 1st in AFC South

What a strange season for Indianapolis. Anthony Richardson can't seem to stay out of the news, be it injury related or other weird reasons like taking himself out of the game to rest. This left room for Joe Flacco to step in and be an NFL caliber quarterback. Between the two QBs, the Colts trotted out a middling offense and a lackluster defense. After a sub .500 season there are a lot of questions marks for this team. #FREEJT
Midseason Prediction: 7-10 2nd in AFC South

Jacksonville started off the first half of the season by going 2-8. Unfortunately Trevor Lawrence took a really nasty hit in week 13 and shut down his season. Mac Jones took over from there and helped Brian Thomas Jr. look like the best rookie WR in the league. Next year should bring a healthy Trevor Lawrence and hopfully there will be some improvements to the dreadful defense.
Midseason Prediction: 5-13 3rd in AFC South

Congratz Tennessee! You secured the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft! The Titans were a team with aging verterans and an uncertain QB room. It is time for a rebuild and if the team trades the 1st pick or drafts a player for the future, hopfully it is a step in the right direction. When you are at the bottom, only way out is up.
Midseason Prediction: 4-12 4th in AFC South

My Bo-lief turned out to be true, although I underestimated the rest of the team and capabilities of the coach. It was a shaky start, but the Broncos turned a new leaf very quickly and fought for a spot in the playoffs. Patrick Surtain II won Defensive Player of the Year and the defensive future looks very bright. Taking a rookie QB to the playoffs takes talent and the Broncos should have plenty of room for next year without the anchor of Russel Wilson's contract.
Midseason Prediction: 7-10 3rd in AFC West

The Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the AFC until it can be proven otherwise. Outsiders may have the perception that this was a bad year for the Chiefs and that luck played a large role. Once againt the Chiefs smashed the AFC with a commanding 9-0 start and finishing up tied for best record at 15-2 and a first round playoff bye. They cleaned up the Texans and sent a great Bills team home before losing in disapointing fashion to the Eagles. Kansas City will stay the AFC's best until proven otherwise.
Midseason Prediction: 14-3 1st in AFC West

Las Vegas knew what was coming when the QB room was decided. It is time for some fresh changes for the Raiders. A lot of growth is needed, but there are players like Maxx Crosby who have bought into the program and can hopefully be a large part of steering the franchise to the future. Hopefully a high draft pick is just what they need, because the NFL is better when the Raiders compete.
Prediction: 4-13 4th in AFC West
